Swisher Hygiene Announces Appointment of Blake Thompson as New Senior Vice President - Supply Chain and Manufacturing

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 25, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Swisher Hygiene Inc. ("Swisher Hygiene") (Nasdaq:SWSH) (TSX:SWI), a leading provider of essential hygiene and sanitation products and services, announced today that it has appointed Blake Thompson as its new Senior Vice President - Supply Chain and Manufacturing, effective immediately.

"We are excited to have Blake join the Swisher Hygiene team and further expand on the supply chain and manufacturing initiatives that we commenced in 2011," said Steven Berrard, Chief Executive Officer of Swisher Hygiene. "Blake has a proven track record of driving process improvements, thus enhancing margins and profitability, and we believe he is an excellent fit for Swisher Hygiene as we continue to strengthen and optimize our overall operations.  Over the past year we have shifted a majority of our chemical manufacturing to our own plants and we continue to generate cost savings from that initiative.  Blake will be charged with taking that initiative to the next level by optimizing our complete supply chain, from the sourcing of raw materials to the management of our manufacturing plants to ultimately, the customer delivery.  We believe that this optimization will lead to greater profitability for Swisher Hygiene as well as greater convenience for our customers."

Mr. Thompson has over 30 years of supply chain and operations experience. Prior to joining Swisher Hygiene, he served as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain from 2006 to 2011 for Snyder's-Lance, Inc. ("Snyder's-Lance"), a manufacturer and distributor of branded and private brand snack products throughout North America, where he restructured the company's supply chain and grew the contract manufacturing business while improving contribution margins. Prior to Snyder's-Lance, Mr. Thompson was Senior Vice President of Supply Chain from 2004 to 2005 at Tasty Baking Co., a regional snack cake company, where he helped rebuild the entire supply chain and optimized the company's systems and operations. Previously, Mr. Thompson spent 23 years at Frito-Lay, Inc., where he held a variety of management positions. He received a Bachelor of General Studies in Economics and Political Science from the University of Kansas.
