Prism Awards recognize preeminent innovative technology in the optics and
photonics industry. A panel of 28 independent judges, acknowledged experts
in their respective fields, selected winners from 136 entries. See a list
of winning products and finalists at

"Response was very strong, and reflects the leadership and expertise of
organizations in photonics," said Thomas Laurin, vice president of Laurin
Publishing.
"These inventions demonstrate the remarkable creativity of the photonics
community," said SPIE CEO Eugene Arthurs. "Many of these inventions or
their derivatives will be successful new products, and will help advance
the photonics enterprise that has contributed so much to enhance our lives
and that will play an increasingly important role in a sustainable future."

SPIE is the international optics and photonics society advancing
light-based technologies. Serving more than 188,000 constituents
representing 138 different countries, SPIE annually organizes and sponsors
approximately 25 conference and education programs on emerging technologies
in North America, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific. SPIE contributes
more than $1.6 million annually in scholarships, grants, and other research
and education programs around the world. For more information, visit
