Lafayette Public Library System Offers Digital Audiobooks

Download & Listen to Your Favorite Audio Titles at Home or On the Go


LAFAYETTE, LA--(Marketwire - May 27, 2008) - Lafayette Public Library System now offers free download audiobooks available 24/7, anytime, anywhere! Patrons can access a diverse collection of audio titles spanning from fiction and non-fiction to foreign language, mystery, and more. Patrons can browse the Lafayette eMedia Catalog and check out their favorite titles with a valid library card. Titles are downloaded to a PC using the free software, OverDrive Media Console. Listen to downloaded titles on a PC, transfer to supported portable devices, such as MP3 players, and burn many to CD.

Best sellers fill the collection, including titles by authors such as James Patterson, Debbie Macomber, Janet Evanovich, and many more. Patrons can browse a multitude of subjects including romance, biographies, classical literature, and science fiction - fantasy titles such as "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini.

"Our eMedia Catalog has a diverse collection; there's something for everyone," states Diane Samson Triche, Head of Community Services at the Lafayette Public Library. "We are proud to offer our patrons instant access to best-selling titles to listen to at home or on the go."

Customers can check out up to five titles at a time. At the end of the 14-day loan period, the audiobooks automatically expire and return to the collection. The digital titles have no late fees or damage costs.
