HYANNIS, MA--(Marketwire - April 9, 2008) - Cape Libraries Automated Materials Sharing
(CLAMS) launched a new service offering downloadable audio books, eBooks,
and music to card holders from participating CLAMS libraries. Patrons can
check out and download digital audio books, eBooks, and music to a personal
computer anytime, anywhere by visiting http://clamsnet.lib.overdrive.com.
The service is free and powered by OverDrive Inc., a Cleveland-based
provider of digital media content.
Patrons can visit http://clamsnet.lib.overdrive.com to simply install the
free OverDrive Media Console and Adobe Reader software and begin browsing
the collection. The OverDrive Media Console will operate on computers
running Windows 98SE and above, including Microsoft Vista. Once downloaded,
the audio files can be transferred to a supported MP3 player, and many
titles can be burned to CD.
"We are very excited to offer downloadable audio books, eBooks, and music
to our patrons," said Eileen Chandler, CLAMS Member Services Manager "Our
library users now have instant access to a best-selling digital collection
from anywhere, whenever they want."
The CLAMS collection has something for everyone, including James
Patterson's "7th Heaven" and "Eclipse" by Stephenie Meyer. The collection
also offers favorites including "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama and
suspenseful thrillers by John Grisham.
Currently 20 CLAMS member libraries participate in the Digital Download
service. For more information and to determine whether your library offers
