MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) --
WHAT: Furnace-safety demonstration at a customer's home. An
SDG&E energy technician will discuss and demonstrate
furnace-safety tips, how to re-light furnace pilot lights
and other simple steps to follow to ensure the safe and
efficient operation of home-heating appliances.
WHY: Failure to perform annual maintenance on gas appliances may
result in exposure to carbon monoxide, which can cause
nausea, drowsiness, flu-like symptoms and even death.
Also, home heating accounts for more than half of a
homeowner's winter gas bill, so it is critical that
furnaces are operating safely and efficiently.
Homeowners are encouraged to call now if furnace servicing
is needed, and before the busy season and first cold snap
arrives.
