SAN JOSE, Calif., May 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- SPYRUS(r), Inc., a leading provider of high assurance security products, announced today that it has released Signal Identity Manager(tm). The Signal Identity Manager is a robust certificate, token, policy and audit management product that is seamlessly integrated with the Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 2003 Server Certificate Authority (CA) and Active Directory, providing a complete, scalable enterprise identity management system.
The release of Signal Identity Manager coincides with the highly anticipated release of the Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, which provides new and improved features enabling a highly secure platform for conducting business over networks. For the first time ever, businesses will be able to take full advantage of an integrated platform that manages certificates and security services and provides enabling applications (e.g., smart token log-on, secure email, secure web browsing, VPN and SSL) that can utilize the security provided by digital certificates.
"Customers have told us that increasing security and managing costs are key concerns," said Mike Nash, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft's Security Business Unit. "The combination of the Windows Server 2003 Certificate Authority and the SPYRUS Signal Identity Manager will provide customers with an integrated, cost-effective solution to manage enterprise-wide security services."
The Signal Identity Manager extends the significant capabilities of the Windows 2003 Server CA to provide a tailorable, scalable and comprehensive PKI solution for an enterprise by the addition of:
-- A Registration Authority (RA), providing a robust and customizable
capability to authenticate certificate issuance. An RA operator
can remotely access the certificate capabilities of the Microsoft
CA and then manage certificates throughout their life cycle from
initial request; through suspension, re-instatement, re-key &
renewal; to revocation.
-- Enhanced Policy Management, enabling organizations to rapidly
establish, tailor and enforce Business Rules and Policies
consistent with company operating procedures. For example, a
policy can be set to restrict a specific operator to issuing only
email certificates to a selected group of employees, thereby
limiting employee privileges to send only secure email, but not to
digitally sign contracts.
-- Token Management, enabling personalization, certificate
enrollment, and key and PIN management on smart tokens including
SPYRUS Rosetta Smart Card and USB Tokens. Smart tokens can now be
easily managed throughout their life cycle, from entry into
inventory, deployment, re-use and/or final retirement. A unique
feature provides a mechanism to remotely unblock a token when a
user mistakenly blocks his smart token.
-- Audit Management, enforcing enterprise-wide auditing of all
systems transactions. A key feature is its use of an evidence
collection wizard that enables enterprises to comply with
corporate governance and privacy of data laws such as the
Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach-Bliley and Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Acts (HIPPA).
"Previously, PKI hadn't realized its potential for enterprise identity management due to the lack of applications utilizing the certificates," said Tom Dickens, Chief Operating Officer, SPYRUS, Inc. "In Windows 2003 Server, Microsoft has integrated certificate and security services throughout its product line to enable secure business and content distribution. The combination of Microsoft Windows 2003 Server CA with our Signal Identity Manager and our Rosetta client authentication products allows an enterprise to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy a complete identity management system to protect its valued digital assets."
