The year in brief
-- Sales for the year amounted to SEK 224.9 M (290.2).
-- Sales during the fourth quarter amounted to SEK 69.8 M (82.6),
of which Pointsec's share doubled to 29% (14%).
-- Gross profit amounted to SEK 114.7 M (145.2), resulting in a
gross margin of 51% (50%). The higher gross margin was due to the
increase in Pointsec's share of sales.
-- A loss of SEK 62.5 M (profit: 10.1) was reported after net
financial items. Non-recurring items amounting to about SEK 13 M
were charged against income.
Significant events during the fourth quarter
-- A new contract was signed with Swedbank for delivery
of 200,000 password generators with an option for an additional
100,000 units.
-- Vattenfall placed an order during the period valued at SEK 1.8
M for a combined security solution consisting of Pointsec and PKI.
-- Pointsec noted a strong quarter with sales to a
world-leading US auto components manufacturer, WM-data in Denmark
and Telenor (Nasdaq:TELN) in Norway, as well as Vattenfall, Telia
and CAP Gemini in Sweden.
-- Pointsec(r) for Pocket PC was launched together with Microsoft,
and Pointsec was approved in accordance with the FIPS standard for
sale to federal authorities in the US.
-- Magnus Soderlind was appointed as business area manager for
Solutions and as president of Protect Data Sverige AB in October.
Events after the closing date
-- Peter Larsson was employed as executive vice president and head of
product operations for Pointsec. Peter Larsson has extensive
experience of leading development work in the software industry
from such companies as Ericsson and Front Capital Systems. He
will begin his employment on March 1.
